The SL-Deck is desgined so that it can replace traditional precast deck solutions 1 to 1 without changing working processes for engineers and contractors at the same time as the deck of course gives the benefits from the Super-Light technology in the form of lower weight, better sound insulation, higher fire resistance etc.

The design of the SL-Deck is based on Abeo's technology, Super-Light Structures, which is based on a combination of ordinary concrete and lightweight concrete. As can be seen to the right, the SL-Deck consists of arch shaped blocks made of light-aggregate concrete (600 kg/m3). These are covered with a completely traditional concrete. The combination of the two materials gives a light deck which enable even longer spans.  At the same time the use of light-aggregate concrete gives the SL-Deck an outstanding sound insulation and the best fire resistance. 

In the gaps between the light-aggregate blocks, reinforcement is put acroos the deck which in combination with the prestressing that runs lengthwise givs a grid like reinforcement structure and a much stronger deck. The reinforcement running crosswise, which is not seen in hollow core slabs, is a great advantage as it makes it possible to make wider decks without the decks splitting. Therefore, Abeo delivers the SL-Deck in 2.4 meters width as standard.
